Fast WiFi and Advanced Security for the Council

Horsham Council wanted to move to a cloud environment to simplify network management and improve wireless connectivity and speeds in its offices and public areas.

With 80% of its staff working remotely and all its public planning and mapping services coming through its website, the council required a secure, cloud network that would provide flexibility for hybrid work whilst safeguarding operations.

It reached out to Redway Networks to design and install a Cisco Meraki enterprise networking solution and Cisco Umbrella web security to transform its network experience and deliver advanced security in the cloud.

Secure, Unified Network Supports Digital Services

With data transformation being an important part of the council's strategy, Meraki was the obvious choice to drive greater levels of operational efficiency within the council.

Following a WiFi survey and network audit, Redway Network deployed a a robust Meraki network including WiFi, switching and firewall with 'always on' VPN to support hybrid work.

To secure its staff's internet use when working remotely, Redway integrated Cisco Umbrella with the firewall to extend data protection to devices, remote users and locations.

Integrating Cisco Umbrella's cloud-based security with the firewall has standardised security in the council's offices and safeguarded users for hybrid work.

With Meraki, the WiFi experience at the council is consistent for all staff and guests and the IT department has complete control of the network.

The reliability of the network and summary reports set up in the Meraki dashboard has made a world of difference to network management.

With Meraki and Umbrella the council now has a centralised IT infrastructure with advanced Internet security for all cloud-based application traffic.
