Drybrook Primary School Provides a Secure Hybrid Learning Environment

As part of a trust, it's important that Drybrook Primary School prepares pupils for their onward education at secondary level - including the use of technology and digital devices.

Drybrook Primary School's IT infrastructure was unable to support teaching that incorporated digital media due to slow speeds and unreliable coverage. The lack of technical provisioning required addressing in the wake of 2020 when the shift to digital learning rocketed.

The school needed a solution that could future-proof the use of EdTech, but also safeguard IT budgets and streamline network management.

Unified Network Security & Physical Security

In addition to high-performance WiFi, the school wanted to prioritise and upgrade its security, since its rural location provides both opportunities and challenges. Through selecting a cloud-based wireless solution, it became easy to incorporate smart CCTV into their platform - all managed from a single dashboard.

The addition of next-gen cameras has been popular with parents, who like the always-on 'watchful eye' at the school.

A full stack solution from switches to CCTV

The benefit of a cloud-based solution is the ability to house an entire network in one simple, and incredibly powerful, dashboard. The unity of Cisco Meraki enabled Drybrook Primary School to bring more than just its WiFi into a single pane of glass.

1

Meraki MR wireless was installed, delivering 100% coverage and allowing teachers to use high-speed digital resources without issues.

2

Meraki MS network switches were also installed, providing the capacity for 10 years of EdTech and a rising number of devices per pupil.

3

Meraki MX firewalls were installed, as with the Trust's wider campuses. These provided a deeper defence structure against today's cyber risks - essential when delivering education digitally to younger children.

4

Meraki MV smart cameras have provided an always-on 'watchful eye' across the school's campus, making incident resolution quicker, easier, and at a reduced cost from a data storage perspective.

5

Cisco Umbrella was installed Trust-wide to ensure every student accesses resources online safely and securely - regardless of whether their devices are on or off site.

Tom Henesey, Headteacher at Drybrook School commented of the solution, "our Meraki solution is easy to manage without compromising on performance, and provides an amazing network experience to our students, teachers, and IT team."
