High-quality WiFi drives up digital learning at Dinnington High School

Dinnington High School (part of LEAP Multi-Academy Trust) has created a superior digital learning environment with an upgraded campus-wide network, designed and installed, by Redway Networks. 

The cloud managed Meraki WiFi and Switching, underpinned by a more robust network design and resilient fibre-optic backbone, is delivering secure, high-speed Wireless connectivity and has built the foundation for the school's digital transformation.   

The school now has a robust network that is improving student outcomes and enabling the education trust to benefit from centralised network management through the cloud.  

Mixed Legacy IT Estate replaced with Centralised Network

Schools today are focused on enhancing the learning experience through reliable, high-speed access to digital tools. To support their goals, high-performing, secure wireless connectivity that supports efficiency and collaboration is essential.

To help schools with underperforming legacy networks, the Department of Education set up the Connect the Classroom funding programme which Dinnington High School was able to apply for.

With help from Redway Networks - as a trusted DfE framework provider - Dinnington school was able to replace its mixed legacy estate and disjointed IT infrastructure with an upgraded Cisco Meraki network.

Robust WiFi with the Flexibility of Cloud-Managed IT

Following a technical WiFi survey and network audit, Redway Networks was able to identify the issues with the legacy network that were affecting lesson time, such as poor WiFi connectivity and inconsistent signal.  To remove these limitations and deliver an effective, education-focused solution, Redway Networks installed a Meraki cloud-network with next-generation WiFi and switching with a 10-YR licence and managed network support. 

As the backbone to Meraki, the disjointed network of standard ethernet copper was replaced with fibre optic cabling to provide 10 Gigabit connectivity from edge to core.
